Last but not least...

Yabba dabba doo! I finally finished this excusion. In all honesty, half of these things could be eliminated. Between the broken links, not being able to access through computer and confusing set up, I have to say I feel I've wasted a lot of time. It wasn't all bad, I did learn of some very cool things, set up a blog and blogline (which I kinda forgot about) and had some fun. I really enjoyed making the avatar and checking out the Flickr sites.

Would I do this again? Probably not. I would be interested in learning one or two things but not 23 and certainly not 43.

ebooks

I visited the Overdrive site tutorial, Netlibrary wasn't working, Project Guttenburg was. I played around a little bit and did visit netlibrary through our homepage and logged in. Did some searching, did try to download but was blocked and then it expired. I have had some instances in using these applications, very cool stuff.

podcasts

Last for today. Ok, I watched the video, little hard to understand. Two of the podcast directories had broken links so I used Podcastalley. Very labor intensive sorting through those lists. I still don't completely get this except you're supposed to have the audio device to listen or listen on computer. however, when I attempted to download it wanted log in info. I'm very fed up w/all of this. I did manage to subscribe to a feed. I wish they listed by currency, whether these are still being done or not.

youtube

Played around Youtube. Looked up the 70s commercials just to spark my recollection of childhood and remembered some of them. One thing I love about this site, I go to it when I reference something, either commercial or SNL skit that I'm explaining to someone who's never seen it and then I must play it. I like how you go on home page and it recommends videos for you based on what you already looked at.

web 2.0 awards

I played around w/ a couple of different sites, wanting to see what's out there. Fortunately (un) my mood today is on the playful side. I looked at "games and entertainment" to see winners but didn't go on any sites. I opted for shopping since I've been banned from buying, thought it would be fun to browse. I played around Etsy and discovered it's a forum for all handmade items. I'm guessing like ebay only handcrafted only. I found at first the options limiting, for instance under category jewelry, necklaces, stone you still had hundreds of items. Then I discovered the search feature and it held my search for different categories under that item.

Very cool site. Useful for library work? Probably not unless a band of handicrafters come through and want to know how to get started.

google docs

Well, I just played around a pinch w/google docs and my short take on it is above. This is something that may certainly be worth investigating more. I didn't try any spreadsheets, wondering if that;s easier thank Microsoft.

All in all, better than most of the things I've been asked to try. Oh, and no surprise, the audio podcast at beginning didn't work.

23googledocs

Once again, a link was broken. Played around on google docs since that seems to be the one most people like/use and since google will replace disney in taking over the world. I liked it for the most part, a bit more straightforward than word. However, uploading an image took way too long so I gave up.
